Is ASCAP or BMI better?

From an artist's perspective, there isn't much difference between ASCAP and BMI. Various artists may prefer one over the other, and ASCAP has a one-time fifty dollar registration fee while registration with BMI is free. Other than that, ASCAP and BMI function similarly, collecting royalties on behalf of their artists.

Do I need ASCAP and BMI?

No, you don't need to sign up with both ASCAP and BMI. In fact, it's better if you register all your songs with just one of these Performance Rights Organizations (PROs).
